Sheikh Safi, whose shrine is located in Ardebil, was an eminent
leader of the Safavid dynasty. In Safavid period, this tomb was ornamented for
so many times with participation of great masters that it is still one of the
historical and cultural glories of Iranian architecture after several
centuries. A unique feature of this monument is that it contains dozens of
innovative works in various concepts of artistic fields such as the best tile
works, stucco work, elegant inscriptions, works of great calligraphers of the
Safavid period, silver and gilded works and precious painting and inlays.
