Abarkooh Ice House

The brick ice house is beside the main road through Abarkuh, a small town between Shiraz and Yadz. 
This conical shape ice house, which is made of clay
 is an excellent example of how the locals were able to survive harsh desert conditions for thousands of years. It is beautifully preserved structure, including the walls nearby that were part of the system to enable bowls of water to freeze overnight in winter. The ice was then dropped into the dome over successive nights and weeks to provide ice during summer. You can enjoy visiting this authentic building for free.

The theme for International Museum Day 2020 is Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion. May 17 is dedicated to the commemoration of Omar Khayyam in the Iranian solar calendar; the calendar which Khayyam has invented himself. 
Omar Khayyam was a Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and poet of 12th century BC. Khayyam is recognized worldwide as one of the most revered Persian poets, best-known for his collection of quatrains.There are several translations of Khayyam's quatrains available in various languages including English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Danish and Arabic. 
He passed away in Neiyshapur and buried in the city where his mausoleum is a masterpiece of Islamic-Iranian architecture and it is visited by many people every year.

Tehran and its magnificent "National Museum of Iran"! The museum is formed by two complexes: the "Museum of Ancient Iran" and the "Museum of the Islamic Era" .
Museum of Ancient Iran has a focus on archeological artifacts and presents the wide range of ancient relics. Accordingly artifacts come from Shush, Islamabad, Persepolis, where pieces of evidence of ancient civilization were found. The collection includes stone tools , which belongs to Stone Age and more than 30000 years old.
