The Underground City of Ouyi (Nushabad)

Underground cities are dense, complex and wide structures identical to narrow corridors and have rooms in small dimensions.
The underground city of Nushabad in Kashan, Isfahan province, is three-story. The first floor is built at a depth of three meters and the third floor is at a depth of 16 meters. All spaces are created by delicate and subtle digging in the underground and include corridors with a height of 180 cm and in some parts to 90 cm with different widths and rooms with different sizes can be seen on both sides.  The end of each corridor leads to another. The floors of this city are linked by vertical and horizontal channels. In addition to these channels, there are large rocks identical to that of the grinding mills. When taking shelter in the lower floors, the opening of the channel were closed with these rocks.

Nomads of Iran

To deepen your knowledge of different cultures of Iran, you should head to the less touristic places. This means traveling through untouched territories where people hardly receive visitors. A journey to the living place of nomads will take you deep into their traditional life style. Many of the nomadic tribes that still have maintained the essence of their wandering life are direct descendants of the tribes that gave life and personality to the Persian empire. Bakhtiari, Qashqai, Shahsevan, Balouchi, Kurd, Turkman, Afshar, Lor and Arab are the existing clans of Iranian nomads. Migration is the basic characteristic of nomadic life which helps them find pastures for feeding and developing their herd. It is an outstanding cultural show.
If you are interested in anthropology tourism, Uppersia offers Iran Nomad tour, in both cold and warm season, which is a very good opportunity to get familiar with a whole different world of culture and customs.

Where to get a SIM card in Iran

One of the questions often asked when travelling to Iran is how to connect to internet or make internal calls with the most reasonable price and to avoid roaming costs. Well the best answer is buying a SIM card in Iran. Iran has 3 phone network providers; IR-MCI, MTN Irancell and Rightel, all provide good services. However, Irancell is easier to register and cheaper. There are offices at major international airports and in many cities that sell prepaid SIM cards. By getting a 3G or 4G SIM, you can connect to internet as well. Network coverage is plausible in all of the cities. To use a SIM card, first you should have an unlocked phone, then you need to register your SIM card, this you can do at the customer service centers. In order to register, you will need to complete the registration form, also you should have your passport with you. After that you should put credit in the SIM card which is easy by using recharge cards found all over the country; you can buy them at newspaper kiosks or even grocery stores. With the credit you have now, you can call, text or surf the Internet.

Know More About Iranian currency

The national currency of any country is its general prestige and a common way to do business and trade with other countries’currencies. The most important currencies of Iran were the dinar, shahi, Quran in the form of coins, however, these were converted to bill notes in 1889 and issued and regulated by the Meli Bank of Iran. There are two common currencies in Iran, the Rial and Toman.

What is the difference between Rial and Toman?
One of the interesting things that the first time travelers to Iran face, is that Iran has two currencies. The regular currency is Iranian Rials, RLS, and the currency which people use informally is Toman. Each Toman is equal to 10 Rials. So, 1000 Tomans is equal to 10,000 Rials. Toman is used on a daily basis such as shopping and paying a taxi but Rial which is the printed currency is mostly used in banks. Recently, in December 2016, Iran's government has decided to omit the extra zero and change Iranian currency to Toman, which is more popular among the people. This plan is now under study by the economists and it will probably be approved.

Pahlavanpour Garden: The genius of Iranian art and architecture

Being registered as a chain UNESCO heritage site, the nine heavenly Persian Gardens are among the most beloved and iconic landscapes with their distinctive properties, picture-postcard views of water stream and the historic Persian pavilions. Lesser-known Pahlavanpour Garden which dates back to the late Qajar period is located in Mehriz in Yazd Province.  Pahlavanpour Garden has a special attraction due to its flowing water which originates from the famous aqueduct of Hassanabad.  On both side of the main runnel, there are old sycamore trees. The fruit trees of this garden include pomegranate, almond and persimmon. Planting these trees in spite of the excessive heat in Yazd province represents a relatively different cool climate of this region. In terms of architecture, Pahlavanpour reflects the changes of the ancient styles of Iranian Gardens towards the common gardens of nowadays. Uppersia suggests you to get great pleasure in visiting this green attraction while traveling in Iran.
