Hasht Behesht palace in Isfahan

The Hasht Behesht palace is an octagonal two story building which consists of a room with a central dome, four lateral iwanes and adjacent rooms on the four diagonal axes. It was built in 1669, in the Suleiman Safavid time. According to historians, Hasht Behesht was surrounded by a large garden called Bagh-e Bolbol (garden of the nightingale) but the only thing that has been saved from that time is the palace. Its architectural structure is very well preserved, the interior of the two floors was originally decorated with paintings and mosaics. The gallery that gives access to the interior is one of its most beautiful areas, adorned with mirrors and enameled ceramics and frescoes on the walls representing beautiful scenes with birds and other animals. Hasht Behesht recalls the palaces in One Thousand and One Nights tales. The garden that currently surrounds the building is one of the favorite places for locals to hang out and relax.
