commemoration of Omar Khayyam

May 17 is dedicated to the commemoration of Omar Khayyam in the Iranian solar calendar; the calendar which Khayyam has invented himself. 
Omar Khayyam was a Persian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and poet of 12th century BC. Khayyam is recognized worldwide as one of the most revered Persian poets, best-known for his collection of quatrains.There are several translations of Khayyam's quatrains available in various languages including English, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Danish and Arabic. 
He passed away in Neiyshapur and buried in the city where his mausoleum is a masterpiece of Islamic-Iranian architecture and it is visited by many people every year.
