Rayen Castle

Iran is overwhelmingly rich with castles each unique in its own way and not failing to impress anyone, who sees them up close. Easily one of the most recognizable castles in Iran, Rayen Castle is just a short drive (around 2 hours) from Kerman, and definitely worth the visit.
Rayen Castle is the second largest registered adobe structure in the world after Bam Citadel. It is located on top of a hill, at the hillsides of Hazar mountain and in the west of today’s city of Rayen. This enormous castle dates back to the pre-Islam period and Sassanid Dynasty. It is believed that, no army and commander have ever been able to pass through the gate of this citadel, and make it to the other side of its walls.
Not only the castle itself but its surroundings are truly spectacular. it is easy to believe you have suddenly traveled into a fairytale.

Fath abad Garden: One of the most beautiful garden in Iran

Although this garden isn’t registered as a part of the Persian Gardens on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it’s still definitely worth visiting. If you’re really looking to wowed, head over to the dignified garden at dusk and soak-in the exquisite red, orange and yellow hues projected onto the mansion’s façade. Not to mention the reflection of it all in the central garden pool! Prestigiously sitting at the northern wing of the garden, the plush two-story chateau views over two large rectangular pools, reflecting its stunning façade. The building structure is made entirely from raw adobe and plaster. It’s quite amazing what the old-time architects and builders could do with such delicate and simple materials.

The garden watered by qanat which is traditional way of extracting water from the ground. It is a great place to visit Persian garden style with an old building plus sitting in the garden among fruit trees.

Kerman city has many attractions to offer which represent its rich culture and history, such as monuments, gardens, bazaars, deserts, etc. Another added charm is the landscape surrounding the city, a unique blend of desert and mountain in the background.
