Cyrus the Great Day

On October 29, Iranians marked the international day of Cyrus the Great, the ancient ruler of the Persian Empire and the author of the world’s first human rights charter.
Cyrus is held in great regard in Iran for creating the largest empire of civilized nations then known in the world, around 600 years before Christ.
Each year Iranians commemorate this day by gathering at the tomb of Cyrus, in Pasargadae, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to pay respects and celebrate one of his greatest achievements. Our Spanish guests joined Uppersia Persepolis day tour and they were accompanied by Samira to learn more about the greatness of one of the most influential people in history.

A Day Trip to Pasargade

It can be overwhelming to visit a major city, especially one so historically rich as Shiraz. While you're look for a quick and easy break to get away from the city, you might consider taking a day trip to Pasargade. Compared to Persepolis but much farther to Shiraz and far less crowded, you'll witness the first dynastic capital of the Achaemenid Empire and its most famous monument is the tomb of Cyrus the Great. If you know something more about this UNESCO World Heritage, comment it.

Iran: Center of the Persian Empire

The area that is Iran today is home to one of the oldest human civilizations and was the center of the Persian Empire, officially the Achaemenid Persian Empire. Any visitor can see remnants of this incredible period in Iran's past. Iran’s culture is deeply intertwined with its long and rich history, especially from the Persian Empire. Art, literature, architecture, and music have deep roots which are still visible today. Thanks to Leila for going with our Australian guests to Persepolis and helped them to being exposed to Persian culture, people, history, lifestyle and hospitality.
