Fruit Market in Iran

Fruits are a key element of Iranian diet. While some fruits are supreme in Iran, they’re almost nonexistent in other countries. Everything from soil and growing conditions, to tradition and personal preference plays a major role in how popular a certain fruit becomes in each country. Iran is one of the most important exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables globally. Over the years some national fruits of Iran have made their way over from the fruit bowls of Asia and into the market stalls of European countries and beyond. The Leaning Tower of Azadi, A Symbol of Iran

 All over the world, there are a great number of incredible architectural structures. Many of them grand, elegant and vast in their size and influence. Azadi Tower, a forever symbolic sign of Tehran, known for its grandness, elegance and size. Thousands of tourists rush to its premises to take pictures of this tower. This white marble tower is built by using both pre- and post-Islamic architecture. This masterwork was named The Shahyad Tower, signifying "Kings' Memorial", but was dubbed Azadi (Freedom) after the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Ali, a knowledgeable tour guide of Uppersia, took a great photo of our American guests, while walking through this monument.

Iranian Revolution of 1978

Iranian Revolution of 1978–79, also called Islamic Revolution, popular uprising in Iran in 1978–79 that resulted in the overthrow of authoritarian regime and led to the establishment of an Islamic republic. People poured into the streets of Tehran and other cities, chanting anti-government slogans. Middle class Iranians, university students, and Islamist supporters of the Ayatollah Khomeini united to demand the overthrow of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Between August and December 1978, strikes and demonstrations paralyzed the country. The Shah left Iran for exile on 16 January 1979, as the last Persian monarch, leaving his duties to a regency council. Ayatollah Khomeini was invited back to Iran by the government, and returned to Tehran to a greeting by several million Iranians. Iran voted by national referendum to become an Islamic Republic on 1 April 1979, and to approve a new theocratic-republican constitution whereby Khomeini became Supreme Leader of the country in December 1979. It was a relatively non-violent revolution, and it helped to redefine the meaning and practice of modern revolutions. From 1 to 11 February, is celebrated every year in Iran as the "Decade of Fajr. 11 February is "Islamic Revolution's Victory Day", a national holiday with state sponsored demonstrations in every city.
