Clock towers are a common sight in many parts of the world
with some being impressive buildings. These towers can be either freestanding
or part of a church or a municipal building, such as a town hall. Of all the iconic
clock towers in Iran, Tabriz Clock tower is perhaps the most famous, which is
located in the middle of the city. The mansion, also known as Tabriz
Municipality Palace, was built by order of King Reza Pahlavi, under the
supervision of German engineers, at the site of the abandoned and ruined
district of Nobar in the year 1936. The design of the Tabriz Municipality
Palace is in such a way that if we look from above, a flying eagle will be
seen. Needless to say that, the great popularity of Tabriz Municipality Palace is
due to outstanding clock tower, which with its ringing tones every 15 minutes brings
the passage of time to the locals. The façade of Tabriz Municipality Hall is in
stone and the sketch of the building conforms to the examples of buildings in
Germany before World War II. At present, all administrative affairs of the
municipality of Tabriz are concentrated in this hall and the mansion. Never miss the astonishing Clock tower, while
strolling around Tabriz.
