Situated
in southwest of Yazd, Abarkooh is a small town next to a salted desert with the
same name. Many of its buildings are characterized by adaptation to the desert
environment. One of the places worth visiting is the Aghazadeh house of Qajar
period, one of the best examples of harmony between architecture and climate,
constructed with adobe and wood. Another wonder of this town is the cypress of
Abarkooh, in southwest of the city. In the middle of a landscaped area appears
this phenomenon of nature; a tree with a height of 25 meters and a perimeter of
11.5 meters at its trunk and 18 meters higher up around its branches; It is
estimated to be 4000 years old.
