Constructed in Qajar era at the time of Bahman Mirza Baha al-Dowleh, Darvaze-ye Arg-e Semnan is an intriguing construction
consisting of a wall covered with fascinating tilework which holds a large
wooden door, located in the middle of a square. The current monument is the only
remaining part of Semnan Citadel; in fact, it is the northern gate. It is an architectural
city element using geometric designs and mythological patterns on the southern
gateway to welcome the visitors. The most important feature of this gate is the
historical paintings on the tiles which shows the battle of Iranian heroic character,
Rostam, with the White Beast. It was registered in the List of National Monuments of
Iran by the Cultural Heritage Organization in 1358.
